The Commonwealth of Dominica, also known as Dominique, is an island country in the Caribbean. The capital, Roseau, is located on the western side of the island and is geographically situated a part of the Leeward Islands chain in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. Dominica is near Guadeloupe to the northwest and Martinique to the south-southeast. Dominica is approximately 290 sq miles and is 29 miles long, 16 miles wide.
