Is Indonesia Scuba Diving for You?

Have you ever considered a scuba diving vacation to Indonesia and then talked yourself out of it less than a minute later?

I understand completely, as I’ve done the exact same thing more times than I can count. I love scouting and finding magnificent critters beneath the waves, but I’d heard that Indonesia only offered scuba diving that appealed to the underwater macro photographer.

Sure, I wouldn’t mind adding some more macro photography to my repertoire. I’d also gladly accept the challenge of seeking out the scarce undersea life, but I just couldn’t commit to a week or more of playing “Where’s Waldo” underwater.

Before I knew it, I found myself in a plane on the way to Indonesia anyway, and while any diving experience is enough to keep a massive grin plastered across my face, I’d be lying if I said I expected it to blow my mind.

Well… It did.

As I found out recently, Indonesia has all the critters you could ask for, and so much more. The biodiversity of the Indonesian Archipelago is beyond any other destination I have traveled to before, and I’ve traveled quite a bit in my day.

I was amazed as I watched graceful Manta, playful dolphin, and majestic Sharks of Raja Ampat perform like actors on dazzling coral reef stage. The wall dives of Bunaken National Park and muck diving of North Sulawesi captured my complete attention, forcing me into a state of amazement.

I felt like a child in a candy store.

Ambon, sweet Ambon. Who would have guessed I would be going on repeated 90-minute dives and discovering tiny creatures I had never seen before. Normally 60-minute dives are my max, as I’m usually thirsty, cold, or just plain bored by the end of it. Let me assure you with every ounce of my being, this was not the case in Ambon.

Suffice to say, Indonesia truly offers a scuba diving experience for everyone. Pick your poison, give Ultimate Dive Travel a call and take the plunge. We’re beyond anxious to create your custom Indonesia dive vacation of a lifetime.

So next time you’re sitting on the couch pondering the thought, think about how you might find yourself on a flight to Indonesia once and for all.
