Liveaboards in The red sea
The Red Sea
The Red Sea is renowned as one of the 7 Wonders of the Underwater World, home to over 1,200 species of fish, many of which are endemic, and more than 200 species of coral. Its crystal-clear waters provide excellent visibility, allowing divers to encounter a variety of marine life, including sharks, rays, and dolphins. Keep an eye out for the world’s largest fish, the whale shark, which frequents the Red Sea! The vibrant corals offer habitats for smaller marine creatures, making it a paradise for macro photography enthusiasts. See how many of the 175 species of nudibranchs you can spot! Dive sites include shallow reefs, vertical walls, and several fascinating wrecks.
One of the most famous wrecks is the SS Thistlegorm, a 413-foot British armed Merchant Navy ship sunk during World War II on October 6, 1941, by German forces. This iconic wreck dive still showcases much of its original cargo, including trucks, motorcycles, rifles, ammunition, wellington boots, and even a steam locomotive, making it one of the top wreck dives in the world.
The Red Sea’s rich marine life, vibrant coral reefs, and historical wrecks offer a diving experience that is unmatched in beauty and excitement, leaving divers with memories that will last a lifetime.
Red Sea Itineraries
There are two main ports from which your Red Sea liveaboard dive vacation will depart: Hurghada, located on the western coast of the Red Sea just south of the Sinai Peninsula, and Port Ghalib/Marsa Alam, further to the south. Both ports are conveniently accessible with international airports, and most travelers can arrive with a single connection via Europe or Cairo.
Until the 1980s Hurghada was a small fishing village. Today Hurghada has become the leading coastal resort town on the Red Sea. Holiday resorts and hotels provide aquatic sport facilities for windsurfers, kitesurfers, yachtsmen, scuba divers, and snorkelers. Hurghada is known for its watersports activities, nightlife, and warm weather.
